{DIY} Prepster Lamp

If you visited my post on {DIY Chalkboard Table Top} you may have seen our new Preppy Lamp!   I am so in love with this addition to the room for 2 reason: 1)  It’s super Preppy and 2) It’s a Thrift store & DIY Project!

The lamp inspiration came from my sister in-law, she recently inherited a lamp with a very similar shade that I fell in love with!  So last week when I was at Goodwill I found the above lamp for $14.  (I thought the price was a little steep) but it was well worth it because there were no major dings or scratches, i was pumped about the gold accent and it actually functioned properly!

Materials for Lamp Transformation:
Rubbing Alcohol – to clean
Frog Tape – to protect Accents from paint
Zinsser – oil based primer
Rust-Oleum Spray Paint- semigloss white
Rubb n’ Buff – in Gold to “sharpen up” the Gold Accents

Materials for Shade Transformation:
Drum Shade  – from Target
Black Ribbon – Fabric Store
Peel and Stick Tape – Fabric Store

Prepster Lamp Cost was $35!
Lamp (Goodwill)  – $14
Spray Paint (Home Depot) – Already owned
Peel and Stick Tape – Already owned
Ribbon – $3
Drum Shade $14
Rub n Buff – $3.98

$35 is Not a Bad price for this great little Lamp, plus it was fun to give it a face-lift and customize it to my taste!  Spoiler alert…I actually found 2 other amazeballs gold lamps that will be going in the master bedroom!   Apparently my lamp finds were good…I had to guard my cart like a hawk at Goodwill and I even found 2 ladies trying to grab these hot deals out of my cart…What the Heck!

Hope you are all enjoying some fun in the sun!
